Active Learning in Online Environments

This past week, we read and discussed the article "Changing How and What Children Learn in School With Computer Based Technology." A lot of us came to conclusion that technology was all well and good, but there were lots of concerns about the digital divide. Sarah wanted us to take it a step further and think about if there's interactive learning because of the technology or if it existed before then. Classes have been interactive even before there were computers, aesthetic education has been the biggest example of that. There have also been padaeia (I don't think that's the correct spelling) seminars, which can really get people thinking and talking. The great thing about education is that for the most part, people want to keep learning, so they're always on the innovative side. I'm a firm believer that you can use pretty much anything to teach, you just have to be careful on how you use them and that the teacher should be in control, not the tool.
